What Can I Do To Keep Our Beloved Saint Anthony's Open?

What Happens When Father Hugh Bradley is Transferred in April?

The Diocesan Plan

As a parish family, we have been quiet for far too long. There is still the possibility of the diocese closing our beloved St. Anthony's. We must come together with one common goal: Say "NO" to our church closing.

  • Attend mass regularly and take advantage of all the liturgies available to us.
  • Continue to support our parish both financially and spiritually.
  • Write letters, and KEEP WRITING LETTERS. Let them know what St. Anthony's means to you and yours. Send the same letter Every week, just change the date. Just keep sending letters!

What happens when Father Hugh Bradley (Blessed John the 23rd parish) is transferred in April and no replacement priest is assigned?

Guess who will be responsible for those two churches (St. Lucy and Sacred heart) and the weekly masses... Father Piotr. St. Anthony has three masses and Blessed John has three masses. Father Piotr cannot say six masses. Where will masses be held?

The original (and current) Diocesan plan calls for St. Anthony's Church to close and for Sacred Heart Church to remain open. Why?

  • St. Anthony's seats three times as many people as Sacred Heart. Why keep a very small church open for mass that only seats 70 people (Sacred heart) vs. a church that can accommodate 200 people (St. Anthony)?
  • St. Anthony's contribution per parishioner is larger than Sacred Heart, (also larger than Assumption and St. Lucy's).
  • St. Anthony's church does not need building repairs or upgrades.
  • St. Anthony's has an active Knights of Columbus Chapter and hall next to the church.
  • St. Anthony's serves a large Winslow Township population.
  • St. Anthony's has a fully functional basement and kitchen.

Father Jim

The Diocese of Camden is short on priests, and yet they chase away the ones they have. Best of luck Father Jim.
